From: "Ralph Dewey" <balloonz@flash.net> To: <Balloon@fooledya.com> Subject: Millennium Jam Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 18:10:24 -0400 I'm still glowing from the Millennium Jam in Belgium. But one of the things that I forgot to mention in my last post was that I just finished producing my latest balloon video, Dewey's Advanced Balloons, in time for the Jam. I received my copies the day before I had to travel to Belgium. Man was that cutting it close. I lectured on some of my newest creations from my video. My first video, Dewey's Favorite Gospel Balloon Routines, has been well received and I hope this newest one will be also. There were many great things that were shown at the Millennium Jam. Too many to mention all of them, but here are a few highlights. Ken Stillman had a simple yet intriguing balloon character that sits on a child's shoulders with its arms encircling the child's head. Cute and simple. I liked it. Dave Bartlett (Mr. Rainbow) had several good Winnie the Pooh characters. David Grist from the UK had a wonderful multiple-balloon frog and several other innovative models. I finally got a chance to meet Gerry Giovinco and see him in action as Captain Visual. The balloon performances really added to the event. Larry Moss escaped from a straight jacket and then produced a balloon flower from it. Patrick Brown did a levitation with a balloon sculpture. Royal Sorell showed his mime skills using balloons. Atchoum and Tivoli performed a great balloon act together. Stef & Ief did their comedy balloon routine in a 6 foot clear round balloon. Bidou from France premiered his black light balloon show. What a wonderful effect? I bet we'll see a lot more use of neon balloons in black light shows in the future. It was good to see so many balloon entertainment ideas and styles displayed.
