Ok, here we go again. My husband has been in media for many, many years,
so I guess I know a little something about media (osmosis, you know) , and
I'll tell you what--that advertising isn't going to be worth much to the
performer--it doesn't say anything about the performer except that he will be
at a certain place at a certain time. It doesn't promote him at all--it
doesn't tell what he does, how he does it, or even how to contact him...so
except for getting a name mention, what good does that do him? It does the
car dealer a whole lot more good, however, because people will know that
there is entertainment for everyone.
And on the subject of a budget......we all have budgets, in business and
in life.....if I can only afford to buy 2 blouses, I can only get 2
blouses.......the store won't give me 2 extra ones, even if I promise to tell
everyone where I got them. That same dealer would laugh at you if you wanted
more options on a car than you could afford, but promised to mention their
name for a week or two, if they gave them to you anyway. If the dealer has
enough money for 2 hours of entertainment, then that's what they should
expect, and not try to finagle the performer into giving them more than they
can pay for, either in cash, or in trade for legitimate services, such as
oil changes, a tune up, or whatever agreed-to amount of service to his car,
when necessary. I have "bartered" on occasion for services, and it has
worked out fine, but this deal stinks from the performer's end.
Sorry if I offended anyone---
