You poor baby!!!! Glad to hear that you are OK, but what a terrible thing
to have happen. Sounds like this happened at your home -- hope your
homeowner's insurance was updated.

This brings up another point for all of you who work out of your homes --
please ask your insurance agent to update your policy. As home prices have
risen throughout the country, it is important that you keep up with the
increased value of your home and update your insurance protection. In
addition, your professional inventory and equipment may not be protected if
the insurance agent hasn't been informed of its existence (similar to the
way that expensive stereo equipment or large screen TVs aren't covered if
you haven't informed the agent or insurance company). Insurance agents are
under no obligation to report to the IRS or any other governmental agency,
so don't be afraid. You might be in violation of local zoning restrictions
concerning operating a business out of your home, but in most cases, the
only trouble is if you have people coming to your home and you are selling
retail out of your home. Call your local zoning authority (county
commissioners, city zoning or planning department) and ASK what the zoning
is for your area. Tell them you a re thinking of starting a business at
home and wanted to know the restrictions. They don't monitor your number
and they won't insist on your name and address if you don't want to give it
to them.
