Dear twisters and twistettes -

Professor Twist's situation is terrible. I was looking out at my yard
today, imagining what the view would be like with wood ash in the air
and a pile of burned building. My heart went out to Professor Twist
and his attorney wife (who I heard is beautiful)

Anyway, on the point brought up by Susan -

>This brings up another point for all of you who work out of your homes --

There is a very simple solution to protect your professional
inventory and equipment - get a home business insurance policy from
Bomba Insurance (a site advertiser, and a very friendly guy.) Ken
Bomba explained to me that my equipment might be covered, or it might
not be, with a home insurance policy. However, I would have a hard
time collecting if my car got ripped off with my equipment in the
back. Or if my equipment was taken at a site where I was working. Or
if a flood - fire - tornado or any other kind of inclement weather
wrecked my stuff. There is also the issue of a balloon popping and
snapping someone, a speaker falling over and hitting an audience
member - any situation you can imagine where someone is injured,
frightened, or whatever while working as a performer.

Bomba Insurance got me a policy that covers all of that to a pretty
high level. Now if I work a mall and they want me to show that I'm
insured - no problem. One final reason to get a specialized policy
like the kind Bomba Insurance sells is that you can add the place you
are working at a low price. What? you say. According to Bomba, when
working at some locations, the business actually wants you to put
them on your insurance. That way if a balloon pop or a microphone
tumble happens, they aren't involved at all. With my policy, I pay a
fee for adding this place, but I only pay once, and the place is
covered on my insurance for a full year (obviously, only when I am
working there.)

Anyway, I think a business insurance policy like this is essential -
and I recommend Bomba Insurance. He supports BHQ by advertising, he's
licensed in many, many states, and he is super helpful. I've even
read a couple of comments in the BHQ archives about Bomba, and they
said he was fast and hassle free when they had a claim. That's all it
took for me!

Good luck to Professor Twist -

Mike, who is currently worried about flooding in Maryland after 36
continuous hours of rain. . .
