Get a book for first readers on whatever story you wish to tell. This will
give you the story in small, bitesize chunks. Use that storyline as a basis.
'Illustrate' your story with balloon props, including 'dressed up' people.
e.g. people waving a couple of inflated 260s above their head are trees,
another person can be a pole the prince ties his horse to etc...Make simple
and quick attributes for the participators in your story (prince, princess,
evil sorcerer, whatever). Let kids or adults 'play' the role. What I often
do is give each one just one specific line or thing to do, and as I tell the
story, I point at the person to deliver either the line or the action. By
combining these lines and actions in the story several times per
participator, you get something that is not only fun for the participators,
but also for the public. After the story is done, everybody gets to keep
their balloons. In order not to break the pace of the story, if you need
more elaborate props, make them beforehand and keep them in an opaque bag or
in a chest. Take them out as they are needed.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any specific questions.

Hey gang,
I need help once again. I've got a friend of mine who wants me to come up
with some type of storytelling performance on reading for her school. If
possible, she wants to have members of the audience (parents) involved. If
you have any thoughts or know of any resources that might help me out, I
would greatly appreciate it. It would even be great if the story telling
had to do something with balloons. Anyway, e-mail me personally if you have
any thoughts.
Yours truly,
