Hey ya'll!
Friday was an exciting day for us. Got up and ready and went to Austin. My
husband even chose to go with me instead of playing golf. (Of course in this
wind it wouldn't have been much fun out there on the course.) We were
disappointed finding out that our favorite restaurant was no longer in
business.
We got to the Holiday Inn South about 1 PM and sure enough, There were a
bunch of crazy people sitting around twisting out their minds! All sorts of
neat things! WE did some shopping. My husband decided the Pogo is the pump
to get (he doesn't even twist!). The Qualitex neons are beautiful in the
bag, but are not as colorful when pumped (as has been reported). I think the
Bellallatex clown shaped balloon may work as a "Gig 'Em." That is the Texas
Aggie sign. It is a fist with the thumb up, like you're hitchhiking upward.
One of there 260s pumps up maroon, too! They will have my business in these
two balloons!
We waited in line at the store for about 20 min., but it was okay because we
visited with all those around and gleaned info.
Got into town about 4:30 and went to the gym to change into Charity the Clown
for a gig for "Aggies Up All Night," a fund raiser on campus for the
Children's Miracle Network. I was supposed to be there for 2 hours for the
price of one, but those college students enjoyed the clown and the hats so
much I didn't leave till 10:30. It's been a LONG time since I twisted that
much straight. My hands are tired! I'm glad I don't have to twist those
Prestige balloons all the time. Those things are tough!!! When they send me
a copy of the picture of me and over a hundred college students, half of whom
are wearing some wild and crazy hats. It was lots of fun!
After getting a taste of TJam it was hard to leave, but I have obligations,
and I feel intimidated around all those truly artists! Maybe next time I can
feel competent enough to hang around with such talent.
Have fun ya'll!
Marcia (one tired little woman) Lightsey
