Why should you ? Although I find it on occasion to be true that messages on this list are of no interest to me, I make it a habit to at least scan them, just to know how the balloon art is perceived in by others and how professionals handle it. I find it also interesting from a cultural point of view e.g. differences between the States and Europe. There are times that almost no new sculptures appear on the list, there are times that there are many. If you look at the response given to specific demands on this list, a large number of either new sculptures or new ways of doing them do appear. And if you look at the plethora of balloon sculptures on the BHQ mailing list, I think there`s lots to be learned. Just take the information you need and use your delete-button for the rest. There are lots of professional people on this list who do benefit from information such as one company being bought Discussion may heat up, but that probably means that whatever the topic is, it is important enough to anyone to be discussed. Some discussions are long-winded, but they eventually die down. And they led to a lot of comic relief. I remember a few discussions on this list which had among the serious ones some hilarious posts. I find it helpful to regularily check out the photo section on BHQ. Some great stuff there. And lastly, if you have specific things, just post the question. I`m sure you`ll get lots of responses. I myself love a good challenge, and I learn even more from trying to come up with something myself and then comparing it to what others have come up with, than from just looking at what is posted (Sorry if I ramble, but I LOVE this list and I continue to learn lots of it, and I just wish everybody would and then we would all be one big family and there would be no more war and SOMEBODY PLEASE SHOOT ME BEFORE I COMPLETELY TURN INTO A BALLOON HIPPIE) About the conventions, I don`t know of any in England, but if you cross the English channel, and take a short drive to Belgium, you will not only get to see for yourself the ultimate home of beer, chocolates and cheese, creator of fries, andives and sprouts, but you will have the opportunity to participate in the MILLENIUM JAM , which is only 6 weeks or so away. There`s a hugely impressive cast of instructors, and a great number of twisters from around the world will be attending. Goto www.millenniumjam.com for more info. The price is right. The timing is even better ! Be there or be rectangular !!! Jan aka The Trekkie Twister
