I'll tell you exactly why it's important to be fast: If you have a long
line of children and/or adults, your objective should be to make their wait
as short as possible. Adults, especially, have a hard time waiting (but
I've had them wait as long as an hour-and-a-half to get one of my balloons).
I have a standing gig at an amusement park where I sell the balloon figures
every weekend. Management has told me that the other clowns I've had there
to fill in for me have all complained that they can't keep up. Another
reason for speed is that, when selling the figures, the faster you twist,
the more money you make. For speed, nothing is faster than mouth-inflating,
but it tires me out after several hours. (I did ten straight hours once
without any kind of pump, but I wouldn't want to try that again!) And when
you're really fast, people are fascinated just watching you. You don't even
have to say a lot to be entertaining, if you can "speed-twist." So, I use
T. Myers' Pump 1, and alternate (pump, mouth, pump, mouth) and make 'em as
fast as I can. I think twisters should save the slow twistin' for the
classroom. When customers are waiting, they want their balloon as quickly
as possible.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
