Hey, folks!!

Just now getting caught up on all the posts from the
week, and wanted to give another suggestion for doing
charity work.

When I lived in Fairfield,Connecticut, the town built
a new playground, and I was asked to come for one hour
and sculpt balloons. Most of the workers were
volunteers. I was paid, however, by one of the
parents, not the town. Sometimes someone who supports
the organization anyway will pay for your services. I
charged approximately 65% of my normal rate for the
hour, since a tax deduction only yields about 30-35%
anyway. If I were asked to do charity work in the
future, unless it's a group that I already support, I
would ask if they have a benefactor who would sponsor
my services for a reduced rate.

Just 65% of my 2 cents worth,
Veronica Losh
