Subject: Re: Balloon Hats

I think balloon hats are one of the most tremendous areas for people's
creativity. I've done very large events and never done the same hat
twice. Because of the combination of color, shapes, designs, and shapes
of balloons, we each have an endless arena for our art. And as Dr.
Twistin' said, they take less intricacy if you do crazy fast ones. They
are easier on the hands, and it's a break from some of the more
pressured twists.
I have a very serendipitous style of making hats. I get an idea and run
with it, or else I might change it in mid-stream. There aren't really
manuals on how to do the wild stuff- it's just a matter of exploration
and experimentation. The largest standard I have on hats is to make them
fairly symmetrical, left to right. Although it does not have to be that
way, I usually do it.
