I sure hope that I'm not the only one who thinks that balloon
swallowing is a dangerous thing and should not be done at all in front
of children. Any time you put a balloon in your mouth, you're taking a
chance that the balloon will not do what you want it to do, but will
instead break and as we all know when a balloon pops, you have no idea
where the pieces will end up. The performer could end up with a small
piece of balloon stuck in their throat. Could be deadly for the
performer and not to much fun for the kids watching the performer
gasping for air. Also children have constant access to balloons. Some
children will see you doing a trick like that, think that it's cool and
try to emulate you. Without knowing how the trick is set up, this could
be deadly for them. Every one of us have seen children of all ages put
balloons into their mouths after warning them of the dangers. We as
entertainers have to set an example for the kids and keep balloons away
from our mouths except for blowing them up (In fact, I think even
blowing should be done with a pump for your own health and as an example
to kids to keep balloons away from their mouths - this coming from
someone who used to mouth blow exclusively).
On another topic, it was great seeing so many countries on our balloon
list. We are the real United Nations. If only countries around the world
would be willing to get along and share as we do, the world would be a
much safer and peaceful place.
