We always run our program (typically 1 1/2 hour program  - no, not just 
balloons) so that it ends 30 minutes before the party ends.  That way, when 
we are done, we say "Time for cake and ice cream now". Buh bye. We clean up, 
stay to sing Happy Birthday and bale out.   (We do guarantee we will fill the 
whole amount of time, which occasionally runs over a few minutes - but we 
control it).
