on my contract I've also got the cancellation clause, IE if they cancell
with less than so many days notice (21 for businesses / 7 days for private
birthday parties) they have to pay the  full fee. this stops the time
wasters. I got to a party a couple of months ago, only to find there wasn't
one, the booker hadn't bothered booking the hall, and hadn't told me the
party was cancelled. That's why I decided to include the clause, as a member
of Equity, The british actors union, I get full legal cover to chase these
people up. Mind you in the 6 years I've been doing this, I've only had 2 bad
bookers, the one above, and a prat who after the show, told me howw good the
show was, paid by cheque as he didn't have cash. ( I usually only accept
cash). Then went to the bank on the monday and stopped the cheque. I didn't
have a contract, and over here it  costs a fortune to take people to court,
so I had to right it off. My contracts now protect me, ish.
