Subject: RE: 350 balloons
I like to use both a 260 & a 350 to duplicate the same sculpture --
parent & child turtle, dog, etc.
The 260 and 350 turtles side-by-side make nice table decorations for
family events; also use in lieu of a bow, scotch taped to gifts
- baby showers, for a child or family.
350's can be twist connected with 315's as ears/legs of shorter animals
OR with other 350's as legs of taller animals.
Using the twist-connect method with separate balloons for legs and other
body parts, though more costly & time-consuming, has
several benefits:
1. Animals stand well independently - good for storytelling and
displays.
2. Twist-connecting is much easier for children than doing all the
bubbles, and balloon sculpture can be popular craft project for
older children.
I'm in the process of combining/revising/expanding my two out-of-print
books, Balloon Sculpture (object lessons) & Bible Story
Balloon Sculpture with only 315's, 350's & 9" rounds, using the
twist-connect method as much as possible to make sculpting as
<simple> as possible so children can be involved. I use balloon
storytelling a great deal in the public library (as a youth services
librarian) and also in church settings.
