Um, Mark, Have you considered a 'super-soaker' loaded with a mixture of
water and a cheap perfume?  A water balloon  works, but it can have some
unfortunate collateral damage.  A well-aimed 'super-soaker' can target the
pilferer without hitting any innocent bystanders.
