(fwd) > I feel somewhat foolish - - can you tell me about the guide to balloons and > ballooning? I have not seen it.... Sure, no problem, we always welcome questions. Obviously you have found your way to at least one of our three balloon-related mailing lists. There are two main lists, one for balloon twisters and one for balloon decorators. A third list was created to discuss legal issues related to balloon 'stackers' (the people who use forms with openings to create walls of balloons... along same concept as a lite-brite, sans light bulb). These lists are associated with the Balloon Headquarters web site (affectionately known as BHQ) located at http://www.fooledya.com/balloon and you will find searchable archives for the two main lists. There are tons of cool balloon-related areas found on BHQ, one of which is the Guide to Balloons and Ballooning. (lovingly refered to as The Guide) This is a very large, searchable and well-organized body of information about any and all aspects of ballooning that have been discussed on the lists. Anything that is sent to the three associated mailing lists and deemed to be 'good advice' gets included in The Guide... so it is constantly being updated and improved. (and we administrators are constantly a few months behind). In addition to a myriad of balloon topics, the Guide provides a List of Contributors, and some information about the people who run this whole show (we always do our very best to give credit where credit is due). You can also find information about sponsors on the BHQ Main Page. Without their support (and some private contributions from list subscribers), this show could not go on... it takes the group of us a lot of time, effort and resources (and disk space!) to keep the lists running smoothly and the information readily accessible. So we always get a warm fuzzy feeling when someone starts a post with: "I looked in the Guide and found some basic tips, but I need a little more information about ... can someone help me?" Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I've been meaning to post something along these lines for all the newbies and lurkers out there. We've grown so much, that the overall picture may not be obvious. In summary, the Guide is a dynamic on-line resource associated with Balloon HQ and the mailing lists. It does not exist anywhere else... not as a book, magazine, poublication, or CD-ROM. If you like what you see and would like to become a BHQ sponsor, or you would like to make a contribution, or you merely want to volunteer to help or shower us with praise/input you may contact myself, Larry Moss, or Mark Balzer.
