Dona, I saw the cutest Casper The Ghost at FCM this last July with a large
white for the head. (Draw the simple face) Attach it to the middle of a
white 260 which has been folded in half and twisted to itself (like a candy
cane ) Sorry, I can't remember the name of the lady who made it. I have a

Hi to everyone and especially those who took the time to write personally,
sorry I have only been lurking lately, but my business and T&S planning are
taking lots of my time. However I have gotten several requests for more
info on T&S 2K so I thought I would address them here.

The earlybird deadline is October 1, 1999, that's only a few weeks away.
If your reg form is postmarked on or before the first, you get in at the
early bird price. We also do take credit cards and registrations by fax,
you can fax your info to 978-531-5353. Registration info and forms can be
found at balloondesigns.com or at balloonhq.com.

The registration fee will cover everything but the classes. Just like last
year's T&Jam, instructors will charge $5 for classes (some will elect not
to charge as they are being sponsored by balloon manufacturers) and you
will pay them at the door

Several people expressed an interest in arriving a day or two early and
were wondering if others would be there to jam. Last year Royal and I
arrived a day early only to find that others had arrived as early as
wednesday! -- So that's a yes! Check in for badges will start about 2 pm
Friday. Formally, festivities begin at 6 pm on Friday February 4, 1999, we
will have a welcome reception and possibly some cool talent in the form if
a show (still to be finalized), There will be two classes offered at 8 pm
and as always, lots of jamming afterwards.

Saturday will begin with a Continental Breakfast and registration will be
open at 7 am, classes will start at 8:30. there will be 4 classes
scheduled with 5 instructors, You will get to choose which 4 classes you
want to attend. Scheduled instructors include Bruce Kalver, John Holmes,
Marvin Hardy, Royal Sorell, Larry Moss, Patrick Brown, Ken Stillman and we
are still negotiating with Stef and Yves from Belguim as well. WOW what a
list!

We will accept competition entries from noon until 6 pm, with categories of
small medium and large. Voting by ALL attendees will be from 6 - 7:30.
Photography of competition entries will only be allowed after the voting.
The awards Banquet will start at 7:30 and go as long as they let us.

Sunday depending on the budget we may have a continental breakfast, then a
worship service and private lessons starting at 9 am. Anyone is welcome to
give a private lesson and charge whatever they want. You are also welcom to
just hang out and jam at anytime.

Other Stuff to Know:
The hotel has an indoor swimming pool that I know we will be using as a
great meeing and jamming place.
There is a restaurant and bar inside the hotel wich will also be
available for jamming late into the night.
We will supply attendees with maps ofthe area and places for food and
other sundries, If you have a special need, let me know.
So far there are no other events scheduled at the hoel, its all ours to
fill with balloons and fun!
There will be dealers selling their wares including more books, videos,
pumps and balloons from many manufacturers.
We will be limiting the Twist & Shout attendance to 250 people, therefore
you should register as early as possible to be sure you're not shut out.
Last year's event had 230 attendees, this year we will certaintly sell out.

Lastly, there are alot of twisters who are not subscribers to balloonhq
(yet), and many who are not online, so please pass the word along to all
your twister, magician and clown friends.

thank you all, and if you have any questions e mail me at

On a hot day, I use a cooler bag to keep them cold. I put in some cooling
elements and some frozen packs of orange juice. That way, I can keep the
balloons cool and enjoy a cold drink when I need it. A cooler box keeps the
balloons cool for a longer time, but it is heavier and bulkier. When the cooler
bag is empty, I can fold it into a small packet.

My first inclination was to log on and vent. My second inclination was
to let it go and let a dead horse rest. My decision is I have to say
something.

I was getting my balloons together and it's the first time I've gone
through my entire stock in a very long time. I wanted to see what I
have left.

Well I ran across an old bag of assorted Qualitex and just dumped them
on my bed and decided to play. The first balloon I grabbed didn't have
a nozzle, but I stuck it on my pump and inflated it.

The first thing I noticed was, "Wow this balloon is pretty thick.", but
not like a BSA thick. After inflating I noticed how strong it feeled.
By the way it's a quartz purple, which I started having troubles with,
among other jewel tones.

I began twisting the balloon and just couldn't get over the quality of
this particular balloon. I found another quartz purple in the bag and
played with it. It isn't as superp a quality, but it is still notibly
different. No visible flaws overall a very nice balloon. ;o)

Seriously,
I've been afraid of using the jewel tones especially in the heat. I
think if the quality was as good as these two balloons i'd have a
little more confidence.
Now I'm not naieve enough to think the consistency won't change from
batch to batch, but it would be nice if the changes weren't so extreme.

I've only been twisting for about a year now and was just blown away by
the difference in this balloon and what I have been using lately.

I Love this balloon! (Uh oh! Did I just say that? Help) I imagine
most of you can relate though. I had to voice my experience and hope I
don't get flamed.

Okay, I`m not sure they still celebrate Halloween in the 23rd or 24th century
(Although Captain Kirk dressed as a pumpkin would surely chase those evil
romulan devils away), but here are some ideas you could try:

A Pumpkin:
Apple twist an orange 321 and draw on lines and a jack-o-lantern (I believe
that`s what you call it) face. On top of a hat, it looks very good.

A larger pumpkin:
Inflate a 260. Make four or five large loops and intertwine them, to make a
ball shape (I know, this explanation sucks, but I still hope you get it)

A bat:
check out BHQ. the instructions for a bat there are infinitely better than any
directions I could give. there are several bats, and they all look great.

a skeleton:
inflate a white 260. Make a 6 cm birdbody for the head, a 2 cm bubble for the
neck, and a 15 cm four-bubble birdbody for the body. Finish with a small
eartwist and discard any rest.
Arms are typical jointed arms. Inflate a white 260, make a small bubble for
the thumb, and a 4 cm double bubble for the fingers, then a 10cm bubble(upper
arm), a double ear twist (elbow) and another 10 cm bubble . Tie off and
discard the rest. Make two of these. Legs are similar, but make a 6 cm double
bubble and an eartwist for a foot. Attach arms and legs to the body. Draw on a
skeletal face and bones with a marker.

I imagine you could make a broom out of a 350 for the stick, 160s for the
bristles and use a 260loop or double loop where the bristles are ties to the
stick. I`d have to try this before I can give clear instructions. If you know
balloon fabric techniques, you can make an excellent pointed hat for a
witches` hat. It is like a top hat, but without bothering to keep the top
flat.

Now combine this with black cats, snakes, flies and spiders, and your
halloween party should be well under way.

WOOOHOOOOHOOOHOOOOOOOOOHAAHAAAHAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAAA !!!!!!! (Demonical laughter)

He`s creepy and he`s gooky, mysterious and spooky. He`s altogether ooky, The
Trek-kie Twi-ister (Snap! Snap!)!!!!!!

BTW, why are you called `Rhino`. Is your nose really that big ???

I use a ll" round and a 5" round tie them together to make the head and body
of a spider. Use 260's to make the legs. I also use a 5" round or a 6" heart
to make eyes for it.

I do have to agree with T about the book. I got it off e-bay & LOVE IT! The
pictures are clear, but the English translation from the Italian isn't
always smooth. It explains the twists in each figure with great detail.
Anyone could learn to twist from this book.
