Others (ahem...) may make excuses for the 16 year-old, but have you
considered that _you_ might be too much of a pushover? Why, when I
was at that restless age, I remember complaining to my parents about
how I didn't want to work 70 hours a week in the cotton mill. Well,
they knew better than to let some snotty kid talk back to them, and
introduced me to the iron leg shackles that were attached to the base
of the machine. Yep, nothing teaches the value of hard work like
those five minutes of freedom three times a day to go to the bathroom.

I don't know where one buys leg irons these days, but I'm sure your
local welder could make them for you. Though my old set is too small
for me now, I'm saving them for when I have my own son and he says
"But Dad, I don't want to work on the Guide."

I hope this helps,

Mark
