When you go to upload a photo to the web site, our software will reduce the
image to an appropriate size for displaying on the web. You can upload a
photo of any size. in fact, we keep the original that you upload as well
as the reduced one. this way, should technology improve to the point that
it's beneficial (and network speeds are fast enough) to display a higher
resolution image, we'll be able to switch to the better ones with almost no
effort. The short answer is, don't worry about uploading something too
large. We deal with it automatically. The only issue to keep in mind is
that the larger the image, the longer it takes to upload. So if you do
upload an image from a 3 megapixel camera, be prepared to wait for the
image to fully upload. the time can be a few seconds or a few minutes with
a slow connection.

As an aside, a number of people have tried uploading pictures and not
waited for the transfer to complete before goin to a new page in their web
browser. Those images will not be see on the site. it is extrmemly
important that you wait for the confirmation page to show up in you web
browser.

Buy the best camera yo can afford. You can always reduce the quality of
images. You can't improve the quality of a poor image.

I posted this note on the decor list a while back. it answers some common
digital camera questions.
