Subject: How Many Tables? Date: Mon, 09 Jun 2003 10:36:28 -0400 From: "Marcy Kozar, Splendid Celebrations" Marie - I know there are all kinds of software programs and other high-tech means of doing floor plans, but I still rely on the "old reliable" (manual) method -- You can purchase templates for this purpose. You'll probably have to go to an Art supply store (not a craft store like Michaels) to get these. They are green plastic with the shapes cut out of them. They make these primarily for use by electrical contractors, architects, and other building folks. I use Rapidesign Template R-709: "Banquet/Seminar Planner" for my floor plans. It has 4 ft. and 5 ft. tables (with chairs - but only seven chairs for the 5 ft. table so you have to deal with that) and 30" x 6' and 30" x 8' banquet tables on there, along with some other stuff. Use this with regular tablets of grid paper that you can get from the office supply store. They make an 8.5" x 11" grid paper, and a larger size (11" x 17"). If you are using the above template - then each grid on the paper equals 2 feet. The template even has a straight edge guide for easily drawing strait lines which equal up to 40 feet (does that make sense??). I use mine all the time! It makes me feel at ease that I can fit in what I've promised the client, and it impresses the heck out of the client when you do this for them! My husband handles rental of our church hall on a volunteer basis, and I've done a floor plan of that hall which we copy and hand out to potential renters. It really helps you get perspective on how the room can be set up. Hope this helps. E-mail me back if you have any questions. Marcy Kozar, CBA Splendid Celebrations Potomac, MD
